I homeschool my 11 yr. old son. He is in a book club with 30 other boys and this book was the first book on the list for them to read. He absolutely loved this book. Usually I dont hear much about the books he reads but every time he read this book he would come tell me about how exciting it was. One note...it is definately a Christian book. There are alot of refrences to praying and also Jesus and God. However that in no way takes away from the suspense or mystery of the story and I considered it a plus for the book. I read it before him and I thought it was a very well told, suspensful book. He actually is looking foward to the next book about the "Cooper kids" we are going to get. This was a wonderful book to add to our collection!

It's unusual to find an adventure book written for kids with a strong christian theme. I knew that when I found this series by Frank Peretti that I would be happy with my purchase.

I have read "This Present Darkness" and series. So I knew what I would be getting into, but I still hoped that Peretti wouldn't water down the message of Christ. He did not disappoint me.

We bought the first three, I'm searching a physical store for the 4th, then we plan to get the remaining 4 on our Kindle.

It kept us all in suspense for the whole book. It helps when Dad does the voices of all the characters in character. The story line is easy at first it takes a little bit to get the book started but then the book takes off and it becomes the kids detective feel as you uncover the mysteries of the dragons throat. It would of better to buy the two books in one $ wise but still a good price.

We read it as a family. I especially appreciated the line when the children were very afraid and the parent says, "Remember who you are." Once they remembered that they were watched over by their Heavenly Father, the fear lessened.

My son loves to read and is 11 years old. I was a little worried that they might be too scary but he read through the first 3 books and even went to the library after and checked out next book in the series
