This is more than just a classical text book! In fact, I would not recommend it if you are just trying to learn motor-drive theory, as there are other shorter and simpler books,e.g. Professor Krause's book, that does a great job explaining the subject with sufficient simulation and practical examples to give you a clear understanding about the motor-drive theory. Just my personal opinion!
Anyway, going back to Professor Vas' book, if your intention is to design and control a real-world practical motor-drive (as I did! :)) go ahead and read this book, it is definitely worth of the time and money (you may call this a hand-book). You will appreciate Professor Vas' work, when you realize that what he has collected and put together in this book about 20 years ago is still practiced in the industry and can still work fine.
My only objections about this book would be lack of examples and use of of sometime confusing notation (the notations and subscripts are not as intuitive as some other books. In my opinion, using superscripts could have helped).
I wish Professor Vas would update this book with the latest advancements in the motor-drive and control world!
