This is the second in a series of four books of channeled material received through a group of people and their own appointed mediums. All written by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, who was part of this group. The first three books follow the same format: a certain group of people gather together regularly and ask through their own mediums questions that concern them, from the most mundane to the most spiritual. The responses they receive from the Michael entity are, I find, enlightening, edifying and inspiring. The source is an entity of souls who have come together in the spiritual dimension to continue teaching what Gurdjieff began earlier in the 20th century. For students of the Fourth Way the Michael books can offer a perspective that extends Gurdjieff's teachings with fresh insights of their own. Jacques Koenig.

As a spiritual seeker, I have read numerous books on reincarnation and karma. "Messages from Michael" and the other three Michael books by comparison provide comprehensive teachings on the soul's evolutionary process through five successive cycles (Infant Soul, Baby Soul, Young Soul, Mature Soul, Old Soul). The innocent Infant Soul experiences a number of primitive human lives before completing this cycle. Then it moves on to the Baby Soul cycle and loses its innocence in the process. At the Young Soul cycle, the incarnate soul immerses itself in materialism. All this is part of the plan. The Mature Soul has learned from its mistakes and gained some understanding. The Old Soul is more and more enlightened. The Michael entity teaches that there are no bad souls, only young souls. The evolutionary system appears complicated at first but once you have become acquainted with the particular terminology employed by the Michael entity and the meaning it conveys, it gets easier. The Michael books are a true blessing.

The information in this book is both surprising and mind-blowing in its ramifications, a no-holds-barred look at the world from a higher perspective by one who does not demand devotion, who is just "one of us, down the road", so to speak, and who insists repeatedly that no dogma is to become of the information. The writing feels edited, though, as if some of the information was massaged. There's a "feel" to the content which differs in places, where it seems at times the voice of a higher wisdom, and at times the voice of a hungry writer. What is most satisfying is the depth of information presented, a complete system for understanding human behavior and how to apply it to one's life.

Many people believe that the Earth is a college for our souls, this book details the how, why, when and where of our education on this planet. It offers great insight into the reason we are here, how we choose our lessons on the astral plane and then incarnate on this physical plane so that class may begin.

It reveals that believe isn't necessary as we all will learn eventually regardless if we want to or not. It makes sense of many of the wild theories of afterlife and where we go when we die and what our ultimate purpose is on this planet.

Awesome testimony of the spiritual presence of mankind!

If you are in to the possibilities of life after life and reincarnation, this is a great read. Most people would think it crazy. But if you have read George Anderson's book We Don't Die from the 1960's and Jane Robert's books beginning with Seth Speaks and the others, you love this book.

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's Michael books (Messages from Michael, More Messages from Michael, Michael's People, and Michael for the Millennium) are among the best examples of "channeled" wisdom. They are similar in some ways to the "Course in Miracles", the Seth books of Jane Roberts, and several other such bodies of work dictated to mortal human beings by disincarnate teachers. The source of the wisdom in "Messages from Michael" and its sequels is a supposed integrated causal plane spiritual entity who borrows the name "Michael" from its last-incarnated individual human soul fragment. Each such entity, according to Michael, comprises about 1,000 such fragments or souls.

Michael describes a system by which all human souls, themselves fragments of some causal plane entity similar to the Michael entity, are cast into existence by the Tao; and how each soul fragment has as many physical incarnations as it takes for the fragment "to experience all of life", that is, to absorb all of the wisdom that life is designed to give to each of us. Each fragment is cast in one of seven "roles in essence" which it retains throughout its evolutionary path. For each incarnation it may choose a different set of "overleaves", characteristics that will profoundly color the fragment's personality and the kind of experiences it is likely to have in that particular life. Michael describes in lucid detail the system of overleaves, giving plenty of examples of how they work together to create a particular kind of life experience. Michael also describes the major life lessons ("monads") that each fragment must complete and the workings of karma.

The number 7 pervades the system that Michael describes. There are 7 roles in essence, 7 modes, 7 goals, 7 centers, 7 soul ages, 7 levels within each soal age, etc. It is not an arbitrary number. When the complete system is delineated you can see that it appears to be comprehensive. When you consider the 7 roles in essence described by Michael, it is very hard to imagine there being an 8th role or only 6 roles. Seven seems to cover it exactly.

The Michael teachings will not give you all of the wisdom you need for a fulfilling life, but when you are ready for them they can help you form a more coherent picture of why you are here and how everything fits together.

And, as Michael says, "Belief is not required."

Very interesting book which details the channeling of the spirit 'Michael" by a group, and his observations on history, the afterlife, what the meaning of life is on the earthly plane, and how the God force has organized the spiritual realm and our place in it. Very interesting and complex-it does give one pause and makes one think. Anyone who searches for explanations for the meaning of life and is not chained to a hidebound religious view will find this book thought provoking.
