As a recent widow, this book just made me sadder. So much loss, so many sad stories. I suppose seeing how people have carried on would help some grievers, but it just makes me more melancholy to think that I have to carry on without my sweetheart by my side. Oddly enough, I recently met the husband of one of the people profiled in the book, and that was a bit of a shocker. I didn't expect to see their story of loss in this book.

It's probably just me. Maybe these stories, essays, etc will be of help to some people. I just hated them. Having just lost my son, they did not help with my grief but seemed to exacerbate it. Again, it's probably just me and where my head is at. I threw the book away and will be staying away from these books for now.

I am not a 'chicken soup for the soul' fan. However, this book was given to me after my mother passed and it was one of the best books to help me through her passing. A major tear jerker. But a pleasant read. Although I wish more stories didn't involve grieving during Christmas. Felt like that was the subject of the book and I didn't like it much because not everyone grieves then and most importantly not everyone celebrates it. I don't know. Just my own opinion.

I bought this book for my best friend's (since we were 5 years old, we are 30 now)little brother who is 15 years old.

In June 2008 we had a horrific thing happen to our family, our beautiful sister, daughter, cousin, freind, and aunt was hit and killed by a drunk driver on a motorcycle who was 3 times over the legal limit and racing another motorcyle (who was not injured in the accident),

Our Sweet ANGEL was only 17 when she was taken from us.

There is a specific story in the book that talks about "water bugs" and "dragonflies" that we can all read and instantly think of our beautiful angel, who had been taken from us in such a tragic way.

I recommend this book to anyone who has suffered the pain of a loved one or freind, even if the loss was not tragic, the loss itself is the tragady and this book will help somewhat how to cope with that loss.

There is nothing we wouldn't give, do, sell, buy, whatever to have her back. The reality sadley is that she is not coming back, she is gone....

I know that when you think of a loved one your eyes fill with tears, but I also know that when you think about the one you lost, it is ok to smile and laugh when remembering times with them, if you don't it makes it seem as if they caused sadness, or sorrow but it is the complete opposite in fact, all they brought was unconditional love, kindness, warmth, joy, happiness, and that is just a few of many things.

Please don't get me wrong it is good to cry when remembering your loved one but you should also smile every now and then when you think of them and the happiness they had brought to your life as well as each persons life they touched while they were still here. And know you will indeed see them again one day. I hope that this book has helped your family as it has for mine.
