A notorious rake, the Marquess of Rockingham was infamous throughout London society for his bawdy escapades

I'm not much of a regency reader, but I really enjoyed The Savage Marquess. The countess and her daughter were two especially nasty characters. If I had to be a companion to the daughter, I would have slapped that spoiled miss silly. The first Chesney to have a certain amount of SIZZLE! Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 20 years ago.

At last a hero who has to grow on you . . . and on the heroine. Most heroes in Regency romances are tall, dark, handsome, arrogant and spoiled, but they are perfect arbiters of manners and sophistication. This one is a loud, arrogant, but lovable jerk who is on his way to being changed by the love of a good woman. How romantic is that?

As usual with Marion Chesney (AKA MC Beaton) I love her period romances. Social mores of a different time with the timeless observations of how people act.

Old stories written by dead authors, new stories written by authors still alive, can be just as good to read today as they were when written. Reading about Regency England is my favorite time period to enjoy. I picked this story because the author's style of storytelling matches my reading interest level. An easy story for an easy read.

This series was acceptable as light fiction. The author has perhaps improved with experience, but I purchased this entire series on sale and while it was fairly well entertaining, it was extremely light reading. There is a sameness to her heroines when you read the entire set. She is not a bad author, just perhaps lacking in polish.
