I'm a Russian Occupant
This book was a beautiful and honest portrayal of the life of a disabled boy and how his parents dealt with his life and death. I appreciated the Norrises sharing Nathaniel's life and how they dealt with the many emergencies, struggles and joys they faced and how they rose up from it.

As a bereaved parent, "Sweet Pain: Joy on the Road Less Traveled", has given me glimpses of hope. I found this book to be inspirational and moving.

Anyone dealing with infertility, miscarriage, loss of a child, and parents who become childless will be helped by reading "Sweet Pain".

Having known David and Nancy Norris all of Nathaniel's life, I thought I knew his story; however, I was wrong. I could never have imagined the difficult decisions and challenging moments that were a constant presence while raising him. I'm amazed by God's provisions and grace that he gave these parents at some of their lowest moments. What impressed me most was the celebration of even the smallest joyful noises, warm snuggles or happy waves Nathaniel gladly shared throughout his whole life. He was cherished by many and cared for by scores of dedicated individuals, but nothing shows the unconditional love of Christ more to me than the Norris's undying desire to embrace him as their son, despite his handicaps, inabilities, and hardships. Thank you, David and Norris, for making yourself vulnerable and giving others a glimpse into your life-long journey of sweet pain, so that they can have hope.

Humor. Pain. Honesty. Transparency. Love. Joy. Sadness. This book has all the range of emotions that can only be imagined by those who have never walked the road of having a child born with problems. I had trouble putting this beautifully written book down.
