Now the Handbook has been revised and redesigned in every detail - text, photographs, illustrations, maps and charts - and expanded by over a hundred pages, taking full account of the major advance in biblical studies since the book first appeared. The new book also has over a hundred special articles by leading scholars from around the world, including character studies of important biblical figures and advice on how to approach the different kinds of writings - story, poetry, prophecy, history, wisdom, apocalyptic - that appear in the Old and New Testaments. All the revisions have been carried out with the needs and interests of a new generation of readers clearly in mind, and written by those who have discovered the riches of the Bible themselves and want to share them with others.

This very well written/photographed reference is a super study or just good reading book - a real enhancement to any
Bible-related collection. Follows the chapters of the Bible with very interesting pictures that reinforce the old saying,
"a picture is worth a thousand words". Transports us to the actual spot of the action. Highly recommend for a wide group, from theology student to lay Christian. If there were only two books in my spiritual chest, this would be one of them (My Utmost For His Highest, the other).

This is well written and beautifully laid out with interesting pictures. I like the variety of authors. It would have been good to have more analysis of biblical text, and less history and context at the front (some of which was very academic and unlikely to be accessible to ordinary Bible readers) but that's a minor quibble -overall a great product.
