Gene Amole is THE ly character of all our lives. Gene (Frank, as my parents knew him) was the daily columnist for the Denver newspapers for decades. His signature was a one-word opening that certainly summed up the content of his column. Anyone who enjoys Molly Ivins (heck, anyone that reviles Molly, too) would certainly enjoy this collection, as well as Amole's previous books. This is a slice of American life, lived by a great example of an American citizen in his finest hour.

A friend sent me all the of the Amole books and I read them all. It was a fine journey, a delicious dose of nostalgia in a well-written package. Once in a great while, I think back to being 25, reading Amole's column first thing in the morning, then listening to KVOD on the way to work. You've been gone awhile, but thanks for the memory, Gene.

I loved reading Amole's columns when they were part of the Denver newspaper frontier that sadly has now disappeared. Excellent writing, great stories! Along with this tome, purchase Greg Lopez's "What's Going On?" Both are wonderful short reads and should be part of every journalist's library.
