Elma Schemenauer was born near the prairie village of Elbow, Saskatchewan, Canada. After teaching for several years, Elma fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving into a publishing career in Toronto. As I grew up," she says, "I sank deep roots into prairie life and the traditions of my extended Mennonite family. She's the author of many books. The newest is YesterCanada: Historical Tales Of Mystery And Adventure. Her most recent novel is the 1940s Mennonite novel Consider the Sunflowers, which is set in Vancouver and rural Saskatchewan.
