Lockdownby Sean Black Ryan Lock series Book 1 . 3's. LOCKDOWN is the first book in Sean Black's Ryan Lock series and I'm very excited that I don't have to wait a year for the next book - one of the benefits of discovering a series late.

Lockdownby Sean Black Ryan Lock series Book 1 . It may be Christmas Eve in New York, but for ex-military bodyguard Ryan Lock it's business as usual. His task: to protect the CEO of the world's largest bio-technology company from a group of radical, and highly determined, activists. This is a fun action-adventure novel with a little bit of everything in it. You can't argue that Lock's a real character when he's knocked out in the first 20 pages.

This book is sold subject to the condition that it shall not, by way of trade or otherwise, be lent, resold, hired out, or otherwise circulated without the publisher’s prior consent in any form of binding or cover other than that in which it is published and without a similar condition, including this condition, being imposed on the subsequent purchaser.

Using his military skills, and the ability to cut through the emotional clutter to get the job done, Ryan faces off against the unscrupulous corporate structure that’s more concerned with the bottom line and public image than human lives and a terrorist who is willing to die to get revenge for her own suffering.

Good story line but if you're writing a novel about Americans then stick to American English. Some words misspelled so it's unknown the word that should have been used. The Kindle formatting is horrendous.

Seems like a character we have seen in many other novels of this sort; but personal protection is somewhat different instead of special forces/elite military type. The biotech portion could have been handled more believably and it felt like some of the plot elements were not fully developed. Bad guys were kind of stereotypical as in corporate tycoons with greed/power motivations and security types basically bullies with no conscience.

That being written, it was not a bad story or hard to read, but could have been better.

I'm a fan of Jack Reacher and John Milton and expected a similar context. I was very disappointed and felt the author got very lazy in the flow of storytelling in the last half of the book. No spoilers, but things that happen in the compound and with the kid just dont flow and can't be accepted even in a fiction story. If I wasn't 2/3rds of the way through I would have just stopped because I felt my time and interest was insulted.

Writing style was a bit choppy at times and hard to follow. Characters do not hold your interest and are extremely cliche. Characters fall "out of character" and they are like every action adventure movie that went straight to video. Main character is not someone you route for, is unbelievable and completely unrealistic. I finished the book, but wish I never wasted my time.

I was hooked from the first word, literally. It was a real page-turner and I wouldn't put it down till the end. But the ride was as racy as the story. The pursuit of a child kidnapper, dealing with animal rights activists who would stop at nothing to achieve their goals, along with a romance and unethical human trials for a bio weapon, it has it all, and more. The humor had me laughing just to release the tension, only for the action to pick up where it had left off.

For once the media was used effectively and they came to the party. Unscrupulous executives use a dastardly plan to coerce a scientist to do their bidding, but they don't reckon in his principles, and loyalty to the main protagonist, Sean Lock, whose commitment sees loyalty only to finding out the truth, which he does spectacularly.

A real twist to the tale and you want to see justice meted out deservedly, which it does.

Highly recommended

I was intrigued enough to complete the story and it had a good ending. I found some of the dialogue to be a little smart-aleky during stressful scenes that lent an air of an unserious grasp of their situation. But otherwise a good concept and plot.

This plot would make a great movie.

Using his military skills, and the ability to cut through the emotional clutter to get the job done, Ryan faces off against the unscrupulous corporate structure that’s more concerned with the bottom line and public image than human lives and a terrorist who is willing to die to get revenge for her own suffering. The action starts on page one, and doesn’t let up until the explosive conclusion.
Enough here for the most avid thriller junkie.
