It takes a true historian to take an event like the Titanic sinking and use a fictional character as our eyes and ears. Luckily, the skilled Mr. Brewster does just that. Jamie's back story and interactions with the various passengers and crew come through very realistically. There are many, many fictional books about the sinking, but this is by far, one of the best. Some perhaps probably think Jamie Laidlaw is real like they think Jack Dawson is real. Who can blame them? This book is exceptionally well-written.
