The only thing that I ever wish for with the "Mrs. Murphy" series is that the books are never long enough. That, and, maybe if a little more time and space were devoted to character developement or involvement with the main characters, or with their relationships. Like when is "Harry" going to have that baby that was the main reason her husband "deadlined" the marriage decision? "Harry" has a great heart and there is nothing wrong with showing it. I especially like the way that more animal characters are introduced in each book and showing the different ways that the different animals fit into the different living situations. That's real.

But let's face it, all the great mystery series are not about the intricate plots. They are about the interesting characters. Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Phryne Fisher, or Nick and Nora Charles - who really remembers the story lines? What we remember are the wonderful people who accompany us throughout our lives - whether real or imagined. I like spending time with "Harry" and friends.

This series is just awesome! I want to move to Crozet and become friends with 'Harry' and all of the other wonderful characters that live in that town! We could watch our animals 'talk' to each other, solve a few crimes, go on a hunt, then settle back with a nice cup of tea in her living room.

This one of the best Mrs Murphy's book I have read as the are the MC's set against the background of Crozet and Harry's farm. The animals were normal except for talking to each other. It is Christmas time and the Brothers of have a Christmas tree lot to raise money for their programs. One of the Monks is found with throat cut on the lot. Harry begins wondered why. Mrs Murphy, Pewter and Tucker help Harry solve the murders.

I love this series! I've finally assembled the entire series and am enjoying reading them all. At first, I was put off by "talking pets" but having two cats and realizing how hard it is to interpret their chrips, trills and various meows, I accepted the conversations as possible. The characters are interesting and I love the country setting. As a Texan, I can relate to how Virginian's feel about their state and its rich history. As a gardener, I relate to Mrs. H and Harry's energy and focus. I wish I had Harry's energy! Thoroughly enjoyable series!

She writes from the points of view of the owner of two cats and a dog as well as from the point of view of the two cats and the dog. They solve murders. Her stories are great to read. It's similar to Mary HIggins Clark, my other favorite author.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, especially after reading the mostly positive reviews. But, this book, along with the last one, Sour Puss, just seems to be fizzling out. I felt like I was reading a Reader's Digest version that only touched on the main characters and ideas, focusing instead on the state of the human race (we're all doomed, it seems!). Major characters that were being developed in past books are barely mentioned, new characters are only partially developed, then dropped with a thud. Boo-hoo!

Sneaky Pie is the best! This did get a little preachy.

Rita Mae Brown wrote many Sneaky Pie mysteries and after I read the first one, I was hooked. Mrs. Murphy, the very smart tiger cat, Pewter, the very plump gray cat, and Tucker, the corgi, help their human, Harry Hairsteen solve mysteries. The interaction between the animals is such fun to read but the stories are very good and I can say I never knew "who did it" until I got to the end of the book.
