I am a huge fan of the TV series Bones, which is loosely based off Kathy Reichs' series, of which this is the first book

Her life is devoted to justice; for those she never even knew. I am a huge fan of the TV series Bones, which is loosely based off Kathy Reichs' series, of which this is the first book. However, I realized exactly how LOOSELY BASED the series is after reading this book. what I love about the show is the romantic tension and sparkling humor and wit. these books are so much dryer and less fun. Even the lead character is less appealing-instead of being a gorgeous unattached doctor, she's an older alcoholic doctor, with a messy divorce and a eh, it was okay.

Deja Dead - Kathy Reichs

Deja Dead - Kathy Reichs. How different summer on the St. Lawrence is from summer in my home state of North Carolina, where languid lounging on beach chairs, mountain porches, or suburban decks marks the season, and the lines between spring, summer, and fall are difficult to determine without a calendar. This brash vernal rebirth, more than the bitterness of winter, had surprised me my first year in the North, banishing the homesickness I’d felt during the long, dark cold.

ABitCrazy: 'Kathy Reichs is one of the most unusual authors I've ever read'. Please note this book is recommended only for ages 16+ . Dr. Temperance Brennan is Director of Forensic Anthropology for the province of Quebec. Brennan's job is to find out the identity of bodies too destroyed for any other expert to identify. And her latest case is a little messy. The body of a dismembered woman is found in an abandoned monastery. This isn't particularly unusual for Brennan but something makes her compare the body of this woman to other cases

I don't really hate this book. The problem was that it was in French. My high school French is just too rusty to give it a shot. The seller was very nice and even provided postage for it's return. I would recommend Owl's Books for future purchases.

My husband and I picked up a Kathy Reichs audio book to listen to on a long drive this summer. Neither of us had been exposed to Reichs before and we were both pleasantly surprised. So, when I had the chance to buy all of Kathy Reichs' books to date at one shot I didn't hesitate. I started with Reichs' very first book: Deja Dead. I got off to a slow start...was having trouble getting into the plot and adjusting to her writing style. Eventually, I became engrossed and ultimately enjoyed the book. Deja Dead is a pretty standard murder/suspense novel...no twists or turns that haven't been done before. And, although I assume nothing imperative was written in French, not having even a basic understanding of French made the French sprinkled throughout the book distracting. Reichs also used a lot of unnecessary analogies which added to the wordiness of her descriptions of people, places, and things. But, all-in-all it was a pretty solid first showing and I'm looking forward to reading her next book: Death Dujour.
