Welcome to Blossom Valley, CA, home of the O'Connell Organic Farm and Spa, complete with its new marketing maven, Dana Lewis, former Blossom Valley resident and unapologetic junk food connoisseur--and soon to be sleuth. . .As Dana readjusts to life back home with her recently widowed mother, her latest career move isn't exactly a piece of cake. In fact, it's all tofu fish sticks, stuffed squash blossoms, and enough wheat grass shots to scream bloody murder--especially when Dana discovers the body of Maxwell Mendelsohn, Hollywood producer and opening weekend guest, deader than a yoga corpse pose. While Dana pens the Spa's blog and balances the attentions of the local police and reporter Jason Forrester, her escalating job duties now include finding clues, motives and suspects. One thing's for certain, she better act fast before all this healthy living kills her. "A sprightly mix of humor and homicide, featuring an engaging heroine and a fast-paced plot that zips along to an exciting climax. 100% organic fun!" --Laura Levine, author of Pampered to Death"Deliciously witty! A truly fun read. Staci McLaughlin has a new fan!" --G. A. McKevett, author of Buried in Buttercream"A tasty delight from start to finish! What a fun addition to the cozy mystery genre!" --Penny Warner, author of How To Party With A Killer Vampire

Dana Lewis, a Marketing 'maven' has returned to her childhood home of Blossom Valley, CA. Dana's other plan is to help her Mother recover from the sudden loss of Dana's father. Dana's younger sister, Ashlee is not too sure she is glad older sister is home.

Since there isn't much business in Blossom Valley, Mrs. Lewis gets Dana a job at the new 'O'Connell Organic Farm and Spa.' Since there isn't much to do as far as marketing, Dana lends her hand to odd jobs about the new spa.

It all sounds bucolic until the one morning that Dana helps out housekeeping and finds one of the celebrated 'guests' dead in his room. This starts a romp of a tale that has you laughing, as Dana chases Wilbur around the barnyard, to cricket matches, to finding the honey lady dead in her trailer.

The action is profound as Dana and Ashlee encounter the killer and it almost had me breathless by the end. There is also a lovely romantic thread throughout the book which I truly enjoyed.

This series can only gather strength and I'll be there to read it.

Oh, how I had high hopes for this book only to be let down. I had such a hard time getting into the story. The premise of an organic farm/spa I thought has so much potential, I just don't think it quite got there. I liked the setting of the story, unfortunately I think it was the only thing I really liked. I got to a certain point and was bored and didn't care anymore so I skimmed the rest of the book, I did want to see how things were wrapped up. I gave the book three stars because I thought the writing itself was well done. Will I read another book in this series? I don't know.

A dead body found on her second day. No one told Dana there be days like this working at the Spa. With an indifferent detective working the case and a promise to her mother, Dana sets out to find a killer before she loses another job. I like it.

Dana is a girl after my own heart with her love of junk food. In this well-crafted tale, the pace is evenly matched to the flow of the story. The mystery was good with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing as to the identity of the killer. In addition to Dana, the cast is rounded out by her mom Dorothy, her sister Ashlee, her co-workers at the Spa and a smattering of local residents. The dialogue was very enjoyable, especially the delivery of Dana's internal snarky remarks, which were quite humorous. This is a fun read and I look forward to more visits with Dana and the people of Blossom Valley in this attractively appealing debut series.

I enjoyed the premise of the plot and the setting of the series but I felt it was a bit too disconnected to be completely enjoyable. I found my attention wandering a bit - which is saying a lot because I am also a fan of historical fiction which can be pretty long-winded - and wanted the mystery to be solved. Keep at it though - I'd be interested to read this series after some improvements.

Played for wit, the organic farm gimmick is very effective. Just once I would like a sleuth who has good health habits instead of stupid fried food and donut cravings but that's a quibble. Fun quirky characters that are so witty you don't notice they are cliches - very well done. Cozy whodunit.

Not planning on reading any more by this author. It was a little tame and unexciting. I think I bought it on eBook so I hope it was a free one or no more than $.99.

It was an entertaining read.
It seamed to go on for a long time saying nothing at first. To many unimportant details about all little nothings.
