Marie Langer (Author). As a science student in Buenos Aires that became a university professor in the US, I also cherish the author's understanding that a full life for a woman has both room for relationship, motherhood, parenting, and a fulfilling job. This is my most beloved book

I gave it to my yoga instructor, an adorable woman whose day job is in children's mental health care, and whose education is in psychoanalysis.
Motherhood and Sexuality book. I have to admit, I enjoyed the introduction about Marie Langer more than I enjoyed the book itself. I'm glad I read it though. I'll never be a Freudian myself, but I was interested in exploring the roots of depth psychology. The notes on how Langer's thinking changed over the years was fascinating to me. I'm excited to read from Vienna to Managua.

I first read this book during my college years (in the late 70's) I own it since and loved it ever since, to this day. It has been my companion and informed me in my early realitionships, pregnancy, motherhood, and parenting of a girl child
I first read this book during my college years (in the late 70's) I own it since and loved it ever since, to this day. It has been my companion and informed me in my early realitionships, pregnancy, motherhood, and parenting of a girl child. I resonate with every bit of it and appreciate the empathy and soulfulness of the treatment. I have to say that I'm familiar with and appreciate both the psychonalyitic framing and experience.

In Motherhood and Sexuality, one of Latin America's most prominent psychoanalysts interprets the sources of modern woman's unconscious conflicts. Motherhood is an experience that alters a woman's sense of herself and her relationships. Sexuality issues are rarely addressed in popular pregnancy and parenting books. One exception would be the books by Vicki Iovine: The girlfriend's guide to pregnancy (1995) and The girlfriend's guide to surviving the first year of motherhood (1997). Both books include a chapter on sexuality.
Sex and sexuality have always been the subject of much attention, both scholarly and popular.

In her article "Motherhood and Sexuality in Flaubert's Madame Bovary" Amanda Kane Rooks examines the narration of relationships in Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary between Emma's role as mother and her sexuality. Rooks argues that this narrative relationship provides a space where the association between the oppressions of motherhood and women's sexuality can be better understood. In general feminists inherit two conflicting traditions in their approach to sex. The strongest tradition, virtually unchallenged in the mainstream women's rights movement of the nineteenth century, addressed primarily the dangers and few of the possibilities of sex.
Mother Mary reminds us that the grace of motherhood dignifies and beautifies both women and me. The radical feminists may howl, but this is what a woman was made for.
Mother Mary reminds us that the grace of motherhood dignifies and beautifies both women and men. May is Mary’s month, and it is no mistake that in May we also honor our mothers. Consequently, it is worth pondering the mystery of Mary and motherhood in May. It is especially important to look again at this mystery because of the widespread confusion about sexuality in our society. Her biology speaks the truth clearly.
