Someone had summoned me, pulled me from my intangible form into a real body. I didn’t see anybody here, but I could still smell the remnants of a spell. I could hear my footfalls on the dry leaves, and the sound made me uneasy. I had seen her-gray eyes dominating the slender shape of her pale face-so many times with my eyes shut that it seemed strange to see her with them open. 790. 0. Published: 2009.

Some of you may have read Briars, by the same author, and while it's not necessary to have read that book in order to enjoy this one, you'll probably want to read both if you've read and liked either.

In the original book, we met the Heirs family and began their adventures. This book continues several years after the first book. Some of the characters that I met and liked in the first book are back again, along with some new ones and a surprise reappearance of one that we thought was gone.

As with the first book in this series, if you like adventure, romance, and the Old South, then this one's for you!

I loved Briars, the first book in the series. It had action, romance and sorrow. I read it quickly and loved the characters. This book seemed like it didn't really have a purpose. There wasn't much action or depth to the whole thing, I struggled getting through it. I guess the whole ghost thing was just so different from the life struggles the family dealt with in the first book.

The Heirs Family is back in a continuation of their saga, and that's wonderful! Morgana Moss, nee Heirs, is again the central character, and her story ties the lives of her family together. The author keeps our attention on every page, and I find myself once again wrapped in the goings-on of a fascinating Southern family. Quite frankly, I would love to see this series translated into a mini-series, Hallmark Channel event - such great characters of all ages, and a wonderful lesson in the importance of love and family.
