Endymion is a novel published in 1880 by Benjamin Disraeli, 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, the former Conservative Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. It was the last novel Disraeli published before his death. He had been writing another, Falconet, when he died; it was published, incomplete, after his death. Like most of Disraeli's novels, Endymion is a romance, although Disraeli took the unusual step of setting it between 1819 and 1859.

Benjamin Disraeli Endymion. CHAPTER I. It was a rich, warm night, at the beginning of August, when a gentleman enveloped in a cloak, for he was in evening dress, emerged from a club-house at the top of St. James’ Street, and descended that celebrated eminence. He had not proceeded more than half way down the street when, encountering a friend, he stopped with some abruptness. I have been looking for you everywhere, he said. What is it? We can hardly talk about it here.

Disraeli wrote when he needed a distraction from politics. His mind was awesome and his knowledge of English society was incredible. This novel may be something of a pattern of his own life, I think the last book he wrote, and it is a fun read. All turns out so well in the end that it is wonderful!
