After being brought up Catholic, fully participating (being an altar boy and all) I felt that something was missing.
Intuitively I got that meditation was the answer.
At age 17 I found and enrolled myself in Transcendental Meditation. This was great however the teachers didn't really seem to know much about how it worked or how I could use it more effectively. They were even stumped by the reciting of my mantra becoming locked with my breath when I enquired if this was normal. They didn't know.. later I find that not only is this normal, it is very healthy and helpful.

I continued to be open, read and study elsewhere. About 5 years later I was given "Inner Worlds of Meditation" by John Roger. I was amazed and ethused at how simple yet powerful John Rogers explanations and meditations were for me and I had very profound experiences inside that seemed a greater reality in some sense than the world around me. I still participate with other like minded people on different paths, I even completed two 10 day Buddhist meditation retreats in noble silence, however even years later the techniques in this book are the mainstay of my meditative and inner life.

No belief in God or a certain path is necessary to benefit from this book. At the very least one would find some peace, rest and relaxation.
John Roger has said elsewhere "don't believe me, don't trust me, check it out, see if it works for you. If it does great, if it doesn't, then move to that which does work for you." Simple, effective and no bs. I like that.

An mp3 and CD guided meditation version of "Inner Worlds of Meditation" is also available [...]. I reiterate no need to commit to a certain path, just breathe in and breathe out consciously and see where it takes you.....
