Venom and Carnage are probably the two most prolific Spiderman villains. Each has had their fair share of appearances of spin-offs because they are just SO cool. Well this run of comics is THE Venom and Carnage spin-off and even introduces another symbiotic villain. I wont spoil the story like other reviewers on here, but the title is a little misleading. Don't expect a big Venom vs Carnage bloodbath because it isn't that. It is an interesting story revolving around the symbiotes and does have a couple Venom and Carnage fights though. The artwork is spot on and will have you staring at pages way past when you are done reading them.

Again, if you are a fan of Spiderman add this trade to your cart already. It's awesome.

For the debut of a new symbiote and character I would think a bit more effort would be put into the story of this one. The story and writing feel a bit disjointed and the pacing feels just a little off. Jumping from Carnage and Venom fighting to introducing Patrick Mulligan Toxin's first host the story feels like it has so much potential but it never has enough time to get off the ground and then before you know it, it's over. The art is pretty great for the most part, however there are some pages and panels where bodily proportions and features seem way off.

Overall its a decent read and worth the cheap price of admission, I just with they'd have put a little more effort into the story.

Ok, so there really isn't much Venom vs Carnage in this, well at least not them fighting physically like you were probably hoping. But never the less, the story to this is really a great read. And a new symbiote lifeform is born, "Toxin." He's the baby of Carnage. Venom really isn't in this a whole lot. Which I found a little disappointing because he was the reason I bought this. It mainly focuses on Patrick Mulligan, who is the host of Toxin. Spidey pops up in a few panels as well. This isn't really what I was expecting to read when I got it, BUT it still had an excellent story. The art, on the other hand, is not very good, well to me. Too CGI for my liking. And sometimes their faces just look odd. But overall I'd still give this a 5, as it entertained me for an hour or so.

Awesome artwork but I felt the story was somewhat lacking because its focus on a new character called Toxin. The story was more about the Toxin symbiote and conflicts that he was having personally with his new found power. The story should have been called "Birth of Toxin" instead of a title that made it seem like you would be seeing Venom and Carnage destroy each other. Although they do fight, by the end of the book they team up to fight Toxin. Having said this not a total bust of a buy, decent read and really awesome artwork. I would recommend for anyone who is a fan of Spider-Man's symbiotic enemies.

Out of all the marvel books I've read so far this is one of my favorite! But I myself have always found venom and carnage more fascinating than spidey himself. This book is way more action adventure than informational and personally, I love that. Although it does get into the symbiote family tree, all the way down to the creation of Toxin! I have this a 4.5 stars.

This was an entertaining story and a quick read but it didn't have much weight to it. That's an odd thing to write about a comic yet it's true. The characters are always fun yet it felt like there should have been more here. Might just be the lengthy of the book that affected it for me. A longer book might have brought a stronger story.

Okay, I'm sorry that this isn't a concise review, but it took me no time to put this book down. I think the longest the book held my attention for was about 10 seconds... I have no idea what this book is about other than the fact that the title is a lie and the writing is just... what the hell?

The artwork is good, but the dark colors and the strange font used makes the comic hard to read.. I put it down after the 3rd page.
