Beware the Fish! (Bruno and Boots). This Can't Be Happening at MacDonald Hall! (Bruno and Boots). The fact that this is the seventh book about Bruno and Boots, roommates and troublemakers at Macdonald Hall boarding school, indicates that boarding-school fiction is a hardy perennial. The plot is tried-and-true: rules are bent and broken, and there's sneaking around after dark. This year, however, there's another prankster at school, and Boots and Bruno spend most of the time trying to prove their innocence by finding the guilty party.

Macdonald Hall is the name of a series of young adult novels by author Gordon Korman. The series was formerly named Bruno and Boots. The series is set in a Canadian boarding school for boys called Macdonald Hall (named for John A. Macdonald, the first prime minister of Canada), located near the city of Toronto along Highway 48 and seven miles south of the fictitious town of Chutney. The school's enrollment is around 700 students.

The latest/last MacDonald Hall book featuring Bruno and Boots. While i Korman wrote his first book, "This Can't be Happening at Macdonald Hall", when he was 12 years old, for a coach who suddenly found himself teaching 7th grade English. I especially enjoyed Elmer Drimsdale's idea of courtship. He later took that episode and created a book out of it, as well, in "The Sixth Grade Nickname Game", wherein Mr. Huge was based on that 7th grade teacher.

Korman was the Scholastic Arrow Book Club monitor for the class; after completing the assignment, he mailed his manuscript to Scholastic  . The Macdonald Hall series has a TV adaptation of one of the books, called "Bruno and Boots Go Jump in the Pool".

Q&A with Gordon Korman. The Macdonald Hall Series. Bruno and Boots skated their warm-up close together. From the corner of his mouth Boots hissed, That scratch on my face is like wearing a sign saying I took the cat. Relax, Bruno said. I won’t let you take all the blame. Beware The Fish! The Wizzle War. The Zucchini Warriors. Thanks, that’s very comforting! Suddenly the loudspeaker burst into life: Attention, please. We regret to announce the disappearance of the York Academy mascot.

Bruno and Boots can't stand Mr. Wizzle, the new faculty member. Pop delivers suspense, humor, sports action, and a compelling look at the damage those "pop"s in football can cause. He believes in demerits, computers, and a dress code. Mr. Wizzle is ruining MacDonald Hall. So Bruno and Boots, their friends, and the girls of Miss Scrimmage's Finishing School have decided to team up and get rid of him. Read online. Gordon Korman's books appeal to a wide range of kids and adults and can pull in even reluctant readers.

Wish Bruno and Boots series was actively in print again. Great clean fun series for elementary boys who want action and humor in order to make a book worth reading!

As great as it is to see Bruno and Boots again, and even see the tables turned on them, there was something lacking in this episode. Perhaps it was a stretch for something a little different. Bruno & Boots are confused by a mysterious "Phantom" practical joker, for whose pranks they are being blamed by default. They spend less time spiritedly plotting and planning than usual, however, and more time baffled and bewildered. Likewise, their partners in crime, Cathy & Diane, are confronted with "increased security" at Scrimmage's, and find themselves more frustrated than inspired to ingenuity. They are victims here, and while it is certainly different, it is much less fun. While the gang is all here --- Wilbur, Mark, Sidney & Co. --- even they seem a little tired of the routine. The appearance of Boots' younger brother is promising, but probably not as well developed as it could be. However, a Bruno and Boots volume is not to be missed, and this one is no exception. Elmer's foray into romance is alone worth the time!

Came in great shape. My kids found it as funny as I did when I was a kid. It's a shame this book is out of print. I read it again when it arrived, and enjoyed it even as an adult.

The author was an adult when he wrote this book and you can see the change. The characters are different, the plot is too intricate the spontaneous humor is gone. Don't buy !

This is one of the best Macdonald Hall books. I loved this series as a child, but even as an adult, I still enjoy spending an evening rereading the books.
