I love Chris Moyles, I've been listening to him for the ten years he's been at Radio 1 (that includes the VERY early mornings . I really like Chris moyles so was really excited to get his book, and even more so when he signed it for me. However I was left disappointed and bored.

I love Chris Moyles, I've been listening to him for the ten years he's been at Radio 1 (that includes the VERY early mornings he did when he first started) and the book reads like an extended version of one of his rants or long, drawn-out stories. Essentially, that's what it is, a collection of anecdotes and stories about him growing up, his early career, meeting Comedy Dave (Dave taking R1 off the air had be in stitches on the bus) and the rest of his R1 team.

I love chris moyles, I think he is hilarious and this book is very much his kind of humour. I was a Chris Moyles fan for many years - from the drive time shows to the breakfast morning shows. Notice I said WAS a fan. Parts of it are really interesting and genuinely funny, however I did find it dragged in places when he talked of stories which felt like they had no meaning or went nowhere.

Chris Moyles was born in Leeds in 1974. It was a time when 70s clothes and music was all the rage. The youngest son of two fantastic parents, Chris was encouraged to persue his ambition to make it as a national radio broadcaster. Many people think this was the sign of two people who loved their son very much. Two people who really wanted to see their son fulfil his childhood dream. They were poor, lazy and greedy. In 2003 Chris achieved his childhood ambition and was given the biggest show on the station, the legendary Breakfast show.

I have never been a huge fan of Chris Moyles (Uk’s Radio One Morning DJ) so when I picked up this book it was based purely on the fact that. I had completely ignored the fact that Chris Moyles personality would never allow him to produce a ‘Normal’ autobiography. This book is completely different to others I have read. It is a fun read which will have you (or at least it had me) laughing out loud.

What is the truth? Who is Chris Moyles? And what does he have to say for himself when he's not on the radio? Who is this man they call 'The Saviour of Radio'? In "The Gospel According to Chris Moyles", Chris dissects the world around him and tackles all sorts of subjects; from interviewing the world's most famous celebrities, to trying to find a parking space in his own street. But you'll also get to meet his family and friends and learn about how he went from teenage DJ on a mental hospital radio show to the nation's favourite breakfast show DJ on Radio One. His is a life lived on and off the air. And this book is a combination of both. It's funny, it's honest and it's even got a nice picture of him on the front too! Ego? What ego?

Why did I buy this book, am I a big fan of Chris Moyle's, well no, not really, although what I have seen and heard of him on both radio and television I quite enjoyed. The reason I bought the book was because his mum and dad live quite close to me. Not the best reason for buying a book I agree, but it worked for me. I really enjoyed it. This book is not an ego trip by someone who expects to be recognised and worshipped wherever they go. It is a book about a man who is good, some say very good at what he does.

Many people have said that he is the saviour of radio. I don't know about that. He is certainly very popular as his listening figures show. He speaks his mind and of course by doing that he instantly alienates a number of people who feel offended by that. Some say he is a bigot. I suppose that depends which side of the fence you are on. I have seen him walking round a certain area of Leeds many times. I am sure he would like me to say well built, rather than overweight, usually smiling and with stubble that Bluto of Pop Eye fame would be proud of. He does not walk around with a flashing badge on his lapel saying I am Chris Moyle's, look at me I am a star. But the guy is definitely a lot more talented than many who class themselves as such. Even proving to the viewing public that he had a much better voice than many who are making a living in the singing business.

If you are interested in radio, either national or local this is the book for you. There are some great anecdotes in the book and plenty of stories about his family and friends and his incredible journey from teenage DJ on a mental hospital radio show to the nation's favourite breakfast show DJ on Radio One.

Funny stuff but who would have thought that behind all this brass exterior is a real human with feelings.

Talks in depth about his secret sexual relationship with "comedy" Dave and reveals family life as a child.

When you read about his trauma of having a Penis defect, its truly heartbreaking.

A good read anyways, its a shame that more dont have access to this fine autobiographical account

for a book of just over 300 pages and only containing only 17000 words i was impressed that the author could string words together un like his radio 1 show which is a belter it was a nice touch by aled to finish the book for chris after his untimley on air death at the hands of comedy dave

a modern classic this book can only be compared to the likes of postman pat does dallas and the other great modern classic the highway code it was also a nice touch by putting in the free cd of cheesy windows which has been covered by marilyn masnson

I find it quite hilarious that people are 'reviewing' a book that Mr.Moyles himself hasn't even remotely finished yet as mentioned by him on his radio show. He even mentioned amazon and was equally puzzled himself given that there is no solid release date for his biography let alone the fact that he's only just began work on it lol.

Oh how we adored the late seventies, early eighties !! Especially with the rotund ones personal playlist at the Leeds Top Shop. (I think Moyles' still shops there from the peek at the pictures inside this first completed book !?)

I guess the rest of us will have to wait until October when he's finished with the crayons and writing by numbers simplicity that this tome affords us,before we can fully appreciate the fantastic insight into the inner sanctum of Chris' world.

JC need not worry about 'The Gospel According to Chris Moyles".........Jeremy Clarkson,I mean of course !!

This is by far the best book I ever read. I laughed, I cried and I couldn't put it down. Chris is as amazing a writer as he i a DJ. The only thing that would make this book better would be if it was a paperback so I could carry it round with me all of the time.

Wel
The Diary of Fatty BumChops age 40 and 3/4, is a marvelous journey through the life of comic tradegy Kris 'Fatty BumChops' Miles. Barely a page passes without needing a corset to stop your sides splitting and the yawns are endless. Being 10 pages long, it does get a bit tedious and repetative at times, but the continual name dropping and self indulgence make up for that.Overall, the 'Hairy Potato' has managed to pull it off.

Well done Tubs!
