Not all of these had official approval from his publishers, Eher Verlag.

Hitler began the book while imprisoned for "political crimes" after his failed government take-over. Though he received many visitors earlier on, he soon devoted himself entirely to writing the book. James Murphy attended St. Patrick's College. He was ordained a priest at St. Patrick's College Chapel in Maynooth, in 1905. The story of how James Murphy translated Hitler's book Mein Kampf is a tale of intrigue, smuggled manuscripts . Whenever I tell anyone that my Irish grandfather translated Hitler's Mein Kampf, the first question tends to be, "Why did he do that?" Quickly followed by, "Was he a Nazi?"

Volume 1 of Mein Kampf was published in 1925, with volume 2 in 1926. Several different translations of this work into English exist and where there are significant questions of interpretation they can be presented for comparison. Murphy went on to alter the translation for publication in Britain, however his polished version was very different and included racial slurs which were not in the original text as well as some embellishments that were his own invention.

Bought this for my son. He's obsessed with all things WW2 related. I haven't read it, but he has. He enjoys reading other view points.

This is the one you’ve been waiting for. Side by side English and German, so I can both work on my German and critique the translation. Highly recommended if you want to make a real study of this work. Looking forward to Vol. 2, which I assume will follow at some point, although I have months of study here.

Good read, would recommend. Sheds light on early 20th century European history and one man's interpretation of the first world war and the after-effects. Filled with tirades and arguments against parliamentary democracy, Jews, Communism, prostitution, race mixing, and more as well as Hitlers views on how to counter these threats to his nationalistic vision. And despite long tirades and arguments, always eventful and never boring. Some notes are included to provide basic background for readers who might not be familiar with German history and cultural references.

I was trying to decide on which of the translations to go with and I'm glad I went with this one. The book is easy to read and follow although some of the sentences do tend to run on. Definitely worth a read.

An accurate translation unlike others where there are over 1500 errors in translation plus gives foot notes to understand statements which are historical or based on German culture that would otherwise be misunderstood.
