I first became interested in Captain Matthew Flinders during my first trip to Autralia several years ago. I accidentally stumbled across a traveling museum exhibit about his life and accomplishments and became intrigued. It is fascinating to read through Flinders' own books on his exploration and use this biography to follow his routes on my electronic charting software. The level of accuracy he achieved in determining the positions of islands and reefs in this part of the world is very impressive for the time he was alive. If Flinders had not died young (kidney disease) he would surely have ended up as famous as Cook and Bligh. 4 people found this helpful.
