This book about the science of Vastu was written as a simple and clear, yet detailed exposition on the knowledge and basic technical applications for the design of secular Vastu buildings - such as homes and offices. ‘Vastu Architecture’ provides the reader with a nuts and bolts explanation of how to create a solid structure that is in resonance with Earth, Cosmic and Divine energies. Being a fully illustrated book, with around 100 simple, clear and easy to interpret drawings; the book is very accessible to a general audience and does not require any background knowledge in architectural design. Also included are two complete floor plans that can be tailored for specific individuals in accordance with their birth stars. Many other books about Vastu do not include an explanation of the technical knowledge of Vastu science, and if they do, they often present only a partial, or an altogether incorrect account thereof. This is not the case with ‘Vastu Architecture’, as its technically rich, yet layman-accessible knowledge base provides the reader with all of the basic requirements to create a Vastu structure, including a very clear chapter on how to use the Ayadi Calculations to get the Sacred Dimensions of a building. This is not however a coffee table book, it is rather a manual for the construction of special havens for the soul.

This book is so accessible, and well written, that even someone without any Vastu knowledge can comprehend. Well illustrated. Practical advice over theory.

No, this is not Feng Shui where you can easily mitigate the ill effects of a misplaced construction/ floor plan. When we asked a few Vastu consultants about the house we were living in (job loss, money loss), all said: better sell the house. Or at least, for now, cut the branches off the tree whose shadow falls on the house. We did, and the very next day my husband got an interview set up, which followed with an offer.
And the reason we bought the book is that it is better to be informed about what we are doing next in terms of the house. We cannot afford more mistakes.
Certainly Michael Borden speaks with authority and has the knowledge.

We are NOT architects. We are having a house built and want it to comply with Vastu principles as much as possible. This book is wonderful! Michael Borden is generous with information in his book and his website. The book is easy to read. My back ground is with Feng Shui. This book helped me understand why we would want to build a home according to Vastu. It is cumbersome to maintain to the principles, to the extent that our design does, we are sure it will be worth it. We are very grateful for this book and for Michael Borden and his generosity! We are very excited about our new home!

If you want to really understand what are the real foundations of Vastu you need to read this book.

Designers and architects will learn how to set properly a plan for a new Vastu house.

Important to note: in this book you will find only the Vastu rules of the old scriptures and tradition, not newage theories....

The section on corrections is also illuminating.

Mr.Champions
This book was not as detailed and extensive as I thought it would be when purchasing it. There are many important details and rules that seemed to have been left out. While it certainly is well written and a very useful and informative book on Vastu, it does not fill the need of a book which one can use to gauge the correctness/properness of a piece of property or a house. For example, there is scant if any discussion of the negative effects of blockages of the North close to a house. From my own experience I have to conclude that such blockages really DO have a very negative effect on finances and career. For a book that is much more useful for one to determine the correctness of both land and houses, I would recommend Talavane Krishna's book "The Vaastu Workbook". Understand though that there are different schools of Vastu and different ideas on what is acceptable and what is not, although most of the major rules are common to all.
What I find lacking with the present state of Vastu consulting is an approach that organizes principles and rules concerning aspects of the land and features of built structures in a hierarchical fashion starting with those rules that should never be violated and moving on down in a stepwise fashion to those rules that can be broken and how to counteract any negative effects of breaking these rules. It seems that some schools are so rigid that most of the land in a state like New Mexico could never be built on, while at the other extreme are consultants who want to sell you a yantra or some other device or mantra or prayer to fix just about any vastu defect. From a common sense point of view, I find both of these extremes to be ridiculous. The realistic truth must exist somewhere between these two extremes, with some rules being absolute, some being very important but with possible "fixes" available for some deviations that might not remove all the negativity but create a noticeable improvement, to those minutia of details that are not really that important or are just the accumulation of superstititions that must have come about over the centuries, or guidelines based upon variables found only on the Indian Subcontinent or South East Asia in general. For any vastu consultant in North America, Europe, Australia, South America and other places to be listing the acceptable trees and shrubs to have on your property, when the listed trees and shrubs are mainly found in South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent in particular, is fairly ridiculous.
